“Because the Lord loved you…” Deuteronomy 7:8.

This phrase sticks out in my mind and plays and replays like a broken record or a glitch in the matrix. Love is the greatest motivator in the universe; it moves God to tears and into action. Many of the things He does or doesn’t do are because… He loves you.
Once you’re clear about what He actually did and you’re not mistakenly attributing anything, love is His final reason. Why did God make me? Why now? Why did He let this or that happen the way it did? Why did He wait so long or move so soon? Why hasn’t He come yet? To each question the answer is because He loves you.
Yet we’re like little children. “But why?” we ask again, not satisfied to accept the answer. I believe it is simply because love is what He is, what He’s made of, what he does. He can’t help it, can’t do anything else, won’t if He could. There is no power greater, no reason better, no wisdom higher, no method more effective, no other options.

So just accept it. Stop trying to make “sense” of it. Let God be Himself. Let Him love you. Let Him help you and defend you. Let Him correct you and train you. Let Him bless you and multiply you. Let Him call you to a marvelous work. Why? Because He loves you.
