“And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee…” Deuteronomy 7:13
We know that God is love, and love is what He does, but He also loves you for very specific reasons. We are all made in the image of God, but you are unique, unlike anyone else. God sees something different in you and it excites Him.
If you could see yourself as He sees you, could love yourself as He loves you, could believe in you as He believes, your life wouldn’t be the same. If you would continually improve on your special gift, you would be amazing. If you would polish and refine it to its fullest, you would shine like no other. And as you shine others around you will be encouraged to shine also.
God sees this potential in you and longs to see it happen and to do His part in of the process. He is excited to provide all you need, to instruct and encourage you, to protect and correct you, to hold your hand if you need it, or to push you forward when you need it. If necessary God will empty heaven of every angel to help you fulfill your highest capacity!
He loves you not only because He is love, but because you are you, because you’re too tall or too short, too straight or too curvy, too smart, too nerdy, too light, too dark, too strong, too weak, too boring, too weird… He not only loves you the way you are, He also loves all the varying possibilities you could be, especially what you could be with His help! Just give all your too-muchness to Him and see what He can do with you now and what He can turn you into over time.
His love is not thoughtless, reckless, or wasteful. He loves you for good reasons. You just need to trust Him and spend time with Him to find out what the reasons are. Then you’ll love being you!
God, thank you for loving me. I believe you do, help me believe you better. Teach me why you love me. Help me forgive those who don’t or can’t and forgive myself. Teach me to love myself, too. Then help me grow into all I can be. Amen.
