God’s Perfect Love

Perfect love casts out fear. 1 John 4:18

Nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus. Rom 8:39

Several things happen when you experience and accept God’s perfect love. One of them is fear gets thrown out. You stop being afraid.

When you know that God, the Creator, Master, and Maintainer of the universe, loves you so intently and intensely like a good Father, fear no longer serves the same purpose. It used to protect you from insult, injury, pain, damage, death, known and foreseeable, unknown and unsuspected. But while you’re immersed in God’s love for you, none of this can stop you. You don’t need to fear getting hurt. Not even death can separate you from God’s love. It is stronger than pain, stronger than heartache, stronger than anything life can throw at you.

If you’re still even slightly afraid of anything, it’s okay. It’s human to fear, and you’re human. You need more of God’s love. Humans are built for it. Ask for it. Look for it. Hunt it down. You will receive it. You will find it. You will grab hold of it. When you do, don’t let go!

God, thank you for loving me so completely. Thank you for loving me when I… Thank you for loving me when others… Thank you for loving me even though… Let me hear you say it clearer. Please show me how to… Help me today take one baby step toward… Accept my… as a token of my gratitude. Amen.

Action:

Write a letter to God thanking him for loving you when others didn’t see it, or when you didn’t see it, or when life made it hard to see. Commit to searching for it more, accepting it without question, and passing it on whenever you can.

OR

Write a letter to your fear, thanking it for its years of service to you and your comfort zone, and explaining why you won’t be needing its services in the same capacity much longer.
