I See You

“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I see you.

You are a good man. Has anyone told you this lately? I hope so, because it’s true.

You’re trying everything in your power to honor God, to be right, to do right, to keep your promises, to win in business, to protect and provide for your family, to support your friends, to leave a positive impact on your world and a legacy for your children. Whether or not you succeed every time, your intentions and efforts are worth more than you know. Your consistency and tenacity in the face of apparent defeat weigh more than you realize. You bench press life every day in reps that may be difficult to count.

But I see you. I’m counting every bead of sweat, I sense every muscle flex, I note every nerve tense. Every day you show up, every day you do honest work, every time you resist an urge to court your own self-pity or quit and count your losses, every where you pause to heal what hurts so you can keep going, every one, one by one, will all add up in your favor. Your wealth of character cannot be measured by net worth, by nothing on this earth.

This makes you a good man. It’s not the money you make, or the house you buy, or the car you drive, but the richness of life you possess. It’s not the title or position you occupy, or which seat in which office you work, or the businesses you own, or how many serve under your command. It’s how well you manage yourself. It’s not how pretty your wife is or how smart your kids are, but how peaceful and happy your home is. This is why you’re a good man, why you’ll end up successful, why you’ll finish on top. It might be invisible now. But I see it.

God, thank you for the men reading this post. Bless them in every endeavor of life. Keep them strong when they feel tired or weak or done. Help them rest and heal and begin again. Remind them that You see them, they don’t labor for nothing, and You already have a reward laid up for them.
