“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 KJV

This is probably the most popular verse of the Bible. It’s been quoted, paraphrased, preached on since John wrote it. It’s easy to think nothing more can be said. But I’ve had a thought I’d love to share, if you’d care to explore one more devotional reading on it. You’ll need your imagination though.
For quite a while God has a wish. He is immortal, invisible, and dwells in unapproachable light (1 Tim 1:17; 6:16). The brightness of His light could kill a mortal. The weight of his glory is too heavy to measure (2 Cor. 4:17). He wished he could be seen and more fully understood (John 17:2,3).
Then God had a thought. And He got excited. He absolutely loved the idea (Jeremiah 29:11). As always He told it to the Son. He also got excited. The Son, who loves designing new ways to materialize love, immediately went into hyper genius mode and drew up a system that would perfectly manifest the Father’s latest idea (Hebrews 1:3). The Son showed the Father the plans, and they both got more excited (Zechariah 6:13). They showed the Spirit the ideas and the plans, and the Spirit got excited, too.
Each had a part to play. They talked over roles, timelines, expenditures, and contingency plans. Everything had to be perfect, because so much was at stake. When all was thought through, they decided to create us, beings that could represent and illustrate them, beings that could join the fellowship and inherit their powers, beings who also create life (Genesis 1:26). Now all could see and understand what God is like.
God, I’m so excited that You get excited about us! Help us get excited about each other, and look for ways to manifest Your love every day. Amen.
