“…keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” Jude 1:21 KJV

My main goal this year is to soak in the love of God in every form I can, but I’m gonna focus on only three forms for now. What’s cool about humans is whatever we soak in fills us up and pours out of us, especially under pressure. We’ve spent a while looking at the love of God already. Go back and review it if you missed it. We’ve just stated the results. All we have to do now is manage the soaking.
First we need the tub. What are we holding the love in? Love comes, fits, and works in many forms, but not all the forms allow for soaking. The tub might take different shapes or sizes, but its rigid sides prevent things inside from spilling out and insists that fluid things take a predictable structure. Predictability and consistency have compounding effects. Because you can trust how it will act and respond, you can use it for specific purposes. So what forms of God’s love can we predictably soak in?
For one, words are a powerful container for thought. God expressed his love in words, and holding our minds in God’s words at set times of day for a pre-determined amount of minutes will have a soaking effect. And words can stay with us all day or beyond. Reading, meditating, praying, copying, doodling, memorizing, reciting, and singing Scriptures that relate to God’s love are just a few optional activities. I’m going to explore some of these and see what works best for me and get back with you. Try it with me.
What other ways can you think of to soak in God’s love? Answer in the comments.
Oh God, Your love is too much fun! I’ve just gotten started and I don’t want to quit and go to bed. What else can I do God?
