“We love, because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

Have you ever wondered why God loves you? Most of us have heard that God loves us, many have studied it before, some have chosen to accept it, but few know why. We try to come up with plausible answers, like “God had pity on us,” or “God created us.”

While those answers are true, I believe God loves us because God is love. Love is what God is, not just what God does. Love is God’s nature; it is the root and spring of God’s thoughts, words, and actions. It is the first cause, the first answer. Love is its own reason. Now we can rest in simple childlike trust: God loves us because God is. No additional questions need to be asked or can be answered.

Action

Dispense with the doubts. Ignore the haters. Silence that voice in your head. Review His promises. Trust them as facts. Use them like fuel. Walk out with that knowledge, and move on. 

Prayer

God, thank You for being Yourself. Help me trust You more and be satisfied to let You be You in my life, without needing to qualify or explain Yourself. Help me receive Your love fully and freely, without doubts or questions, and pass it on freely.
