“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what ye will and it shall be done unto you.” John 15:7

Do you believe in experimental religion? If God claims His word is true, it should work when applied to reality. The experiment I’m doing is not to see if it works, but to see how it works so it can be used effectively. I’m already learning a lot. Now I see why it’s important to let his words abide.

Praying in Christ’s love is powerful, because His love is power. His love is the spring of all He does, and praying from it aligns human desires and requests to His will. His commandments, promises, teachings, and moment-by-moment whisperings are expressions and extensions of His love. Paying attention to and keeping them keeps us connected to the power.

Humans are conditional beings and so is our love. We often find or put ourselves in conditions where our love is weak or non-existent. We find or put ourselves and each other into tiny or misshapen boxes based on our ability to comprehend or manage the conditions. Without a pipeline to receive and continually stay connected to an outside source, our love quickly runs out. Keeping our minds meditating on His word and our actions obeying the laws of His love is a necessary exercise, a daily discipline, an unavoidable skillset. This now becomes the one condition essential for lasting love and power.

I found you!

I’m discovering how difficult it is to stay connected without intentional, persistent, persevering effort. Because the love of God is sweet and fun, it is an energizing pursuit, but you definitely have to pursue it. For those of you who enjoy chasing Someone who wants to be found, this is the chase to end all chases. God knows just how much and what kind of chase will keep you coming, when to let you find Him, when to be up and going again. It is like the manna that fell for Israel every morning. Love is falling nearby all around you, but you must get up and go out, gather, prepare and share it before it spoils.

My experiment is going well, but does need more of my focused intention and commitment. This is going to be good! I hope you’re doing your own prayer and seeing how it works. One day we’ll need the lessons and strength from these experiments.

Father God, thank You for these lessons in prayer! Forgive us for taking so long to get the point. Help us pursue You and Your love with our whole souls. Show us what to pray for so we can cooperate with Your will. And let us watch You work! Amen!
