“Keep your heart with all vigilance; for from it flow the springs of life.” Proverbs 4:23 RSV
Studying the human heart is one study that changed my view of God. I studied it for a wellness class and was blown away by what I saw. See it with me.

We all know the heart pumps blood through your body. You may know the heart sits in the upper middle of the chest just slightly to the left. It is made of muscle and vascular tissues and has four chambers or empty spaces. The upper two chambers, called atria, receive blood and portion it to the right amounts. The bottom two chambers, called ventricles, hold blood to be sent out of the heart. Between the upper and lower chambers are two gates, called valves, which open or close to keep the right amount of blood going in the right direction at the right times. The right side of the heart receives deoxygenated blood from the body and sends it to the lungs to be refreshed. The left side receives oxygenated blood from the lungs and sends it to the body to serve.
These are things we know from high school. But look again, this time knowing we are designed in the image of God for the purpose of reflecting His nature. How does the heart and its function illustrate the character of God? Before I tell you what I see, what do you see?
God, thank you for our heart and all it does. Help us understand it better so we can understand You better. In Jesus name, Amen.
